Internationalization of logistics industry solves the problem of 'big but not strong'

The 3rd China International Logistics Development Conference and the 4th China (Sichuan) International Logistics Expo will be held in Sichuan Province from October 30th to November 1st. The theme of this conference will be "Connectivity, Cooperation and Win win", promoting the supply side structural reform of the logistics industry through international exchanges and cooperation.
According to Deng Wei, Vice Mayor of Suining City, Sichuan Province, the organizer of the China International Logistics Development Conference, compared with the last Logistics Expo, in addition to its larger scale and higher specifications, this Expo is also characterized by the fact that the key invitees are all from the "the Belt and Road".
Zhao Ping, director of the International Trade Research Department of the Research Institute of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, analyzed that some transportation facilities and supply chain systems along the "the Belt and Road" are not perfect, and the cost advantages of international capacity cooperation are not fully reflected, so the domestic logistics industry needs to "go out" simultaneously with the advantageous capacity:
Zhao Ping: The logistics industry covers logistics infrastructure, including warehousing, transportation, and other capabilities. If the internationalization of the logistics industry can synchronize with international capacity cooperation, it can provide relevant supply chain support for the output capacity. In this way, our output capacity can leverage the local factor cost advantage, coupled with our well-established supply chain support, to truly form a very significant cost advantage.
Wang Derong, Executive Vice President of the China Transport Association, said that the internationalization of the logistics industry not only provides strong support for China's economy to "go global", but also promotes the supply side reform of the domestic logistics industry
Wang Derong: Actively respond to the development strategy of the the Belt and Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, actively promote the supply side reform of the logistics industry and other activities. Our Chinese economy needs to 'go global' and integrate with the global economy. China's logistics also needs to accelerate its' going global 'to provide important support for its integration into the global economy.
The logistics industry in China is known as a dark horse of economic growth, but industry insiders point out that the domestic logistics industry is "big but not strong". Taking express delivery as an example, last year the revenue of the entire express delivery industry in China was not as high as that of FedEx in the United States. Xu Yong, Chief Consultant of Express Logistics Consulting Network, said that compared with world brand enterprises, China's logistics industry is still in a cost oriented extensive development stage:
Xu Yong: We are relatively lacking in international talents, and there is a significant gap between us and world brands in terms of informatization, intensive management, and brand building. Currently, the entire logistics industry in China is still at the low-end level.
Xu Yong believes that internationalization will provide opportunities to increase effective logistics supply, improve logistics operation quality and efficiency. At present, some well-known domestic express delivery companies such as SF Express and YTO Express have begun to establish overseas warehouses or open more international services in key cities abroad. Xu Yong said that domestic logistics companies need to align with international standards in talent introduction, corporate governance, and other aspects to enhance their brand level
Xu Yong: Enterprises need to consider how to integrate China's advantages into international practices. At the same time, some private enterprises need to establish modern corporate systems and introduce international talents, which can greatly shorten the time of internationalization process.
